Ashley Beckem

Q&A

1.       Do you call yourself a writer or and author? Why?

I really don’t label myself. For me, this is about the art and I have a lot to learn. I’m hopeful that with ever new book I will learn something about writing and storytelling. If a label must be assigned, then I would have to go with writer as Author is more literary. I ain’t no Hemmingway, but I do like to provide readers with a mental escape.

2.       At what ages did you realize you wanted to be an author?

When I was a senior in high school, I was reading something and everything in the chapter became super sexy. Well, the chapter ended leaving me wanting more, so I started to pen my thoughts into fictional words.

3.       Top 5 shows you watch on TV?

Anything on Home or Food tv channels, The Walking dead
4.       Any playlists you like to listen too when you write? Varies on my day, from Adele to Butcher Babies

5.       Pet’s? Names?

I have two ‘saved’ Pugs (Fred and Freddy)

6.       Most embarrassing moment?

Typically happens at the beach, thankfully with friends and they are drinking so they forget about the accidental exposure.

7.       If you could have any hobby, what would it be?

 People watching, golf, tennis

8.       Any WIP’s?

About 50% way through with the rough draft of a high tech thriller. Pam goes into the office to discover that her head technology person has left in the middle of the night. Worse yet is the fact that he stole two hard drives with data and who knows what else. Being the CIO it’s Pam’s job to track down the data, code, and anything else missing. Thankfully, her loving husband best friend is a rogue hacker doing projects for the NSA.

9.       Favorite writing time snack?

Coffee or coffee and chocolate!

10.   Plotter of squatter?

Plotter

Why?

I always have a chubby in my hand ;) taking notes and adding what if thoughts.

Books

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot! Very Good Intro to This Genre!, July 11, 2014

This was my first ever menage book. I know. I've been living under a rock. After reading this number, I'm definitely open to reading more of this genre and from this author. Wow! It was HOT!

So I thought that when it came to threesomes, someone always got hurt. In this book, you see just how beneficial it can be to all parties. There was no "cheating" involved, just a married couple looking to fulfill their deepest desires. It was nice to see Holly go from this insecure woman to a freak in the bed. Jim and Holly's relationship is one of trust an openness. I never once thought that what they were doing was wrong. They were satisfying a mutual need by bringing Jake into the bedroom, though it was actually a hotel room. I really liked Jake as well as the two main characters. Jake was smart and observant, not to mention good looking. It's no wonder why Holly and Jim chose him to be their third. Like one of the other reviewers, I would love to see more. What does happen next? Do they make it a regular thing? Does she ever get her six man fantasy. Judging by how smoothly the first round went, I bet she does.

I liked the fact that the author built up the final escapade, instead of throwing it at the reader. There wasn't an extreme amount of character development, but there was just the right amount on their road to menage. The title is a brilliant match for the content of this book. The book was funny, especially with the kindle reading it to me and mispronouncing "cum". This book could easily be a comedy. I suggest using text to speech while sipping on a Frappachino at Starbucks. Eh, maybe not the best idea. There may be kids around! If you are a modest person, don't read this is public. I would suggest reading this with your spouse! It'll get you both in the mood and maybe convince you to try out what this couple did.

I think the set up was nice and the reactions, especially from Holly, where convincing. She knew what she wanted, but she was always concerned that going for it may ruin her marriage, even though Jim was the one so turned on by the thought of her with another man. This was a quick read and one that I would enjoy picking up from time to time. If your libido is in a slump, pick up this book and start reading; it'll bring you right out of it.
